Fighting for a farming future

Farming remains vital to our local economy here in Dumfriesshire and is an important local employer both directly and indirectly. There are big challenges ahead for the industry and it is clear that the Scottish Government are not making things any easier.

Helping our community volunteers and organisations

We are exceptionally lucky across Dumfriesshire to have so many active community volunteers and organisations. Those individuals who work to support others make such a difference and are helping keep our sense of community spirit alive.

Standing up for our United Kingdom

On the 18th of September 2014 the people of Scotland voted to remain part of the United Kingdom. The outcome was decisive and here in Dumfries and Galloway we saw one of the highest No votes in Scotland.

Backing our vital local services

I believe that decisions about our police service and resources should be taken locally. Not by the Scottish Government or Police Scotland.

Growing our local economy

Attracting high skilled well paid employment opportunities locally is a key challenge and is essential if young people are going to choose to live and work in Dumfries and Galloway.
