Dumfriesshire MSP Oliver Mundell has slammed Transport Minister Humza Yousaf for his arrogance towards the on-going delays on the A76 in his constituency.
Mr Mundell, who has continually pressed the SNP Government's Transport Minister to fix the 'temporary' traffic lights which have blighted the route for over 1,000 days, was left astonished by a tweet from Mr Yousaf.
On Monday afternoon, Mr Yousaf made reference to a Parliamentary question from Mr Mundell that was asking him to inspect the route first-hand. However, Mr Yousaf was dismissive of Mr Mundell's question tweeting: "I am responsible for 3,500km of Trunk Road Network. Are opposition seriously now demanding I personally inspect every inch?!"
That has led Mr Mundell to slam the SNP's Transport Minister as arrogant and out of touch to issues facing rural roads.
Commenting Oliver Mundell MSP said: "I have continually pressed the SNP's Transport Minister to urgently fix the A76 which is so vital for the local economy but this tweet sums up his attitude towards the issue once and for all.
"Instead of being so dismissive towards my constituents, who constantly get in touch with me about the delays and condition of the A76, Mr Yousaf could have at least considered taking up my request to see how poor a state the A76 is in.
"By posting this online, all the Transport Minister has shown my constituents is a major level of arrogance and that he is completely out of touch with the concerns of my constituents who have to endure this route on a daily basis.
"Instead of spending all his time on photo opportunities in the central belt, I was hoping the Transport Minister could spare some time to come down and see the problems on the A76.
"The A76 is absolutely vital for the local economy, yet the Transport Minister seems more concerned with hitting out at opposition MSP's on social media which is completely unacceptable."
